When I was a kid, my sister was The Artist. She practiced ever since she could pick up a pencil, and even when she was young her drawings were wonderful, lifelike, and much sought after. I wanted to draw, too, but I felt like I was in her shadow and anything I did would be lesser in some degree. I didn't even practice that much, because anything that I drew (without anywhere near the amount of practice that my sister put in) looked silly.
My mother was an English major. She is The Writer. She has written thousands of pages of journal entries, stories, and lately several blogs. She doesn't publish books, tour the country, or write magazine articles that change the world. She writes about her life, she writes talks for church, she writes for herself. She writes with passion, knowledge, and beauty. She takes her thoughts about something like a frog, and ties in something from her life, her religion, her family, and does it in such a flowing way that you don't even notice. Every talk she gives in church is amazing, a masterpiece in itself. I was an English major, too, because I wanted to write like her. I wanted to write amazing things that people couldn't put down, that they wanted to read again and again, that they wanted to have other people read, because what they read was so wonderful and uplifting that they couldn't help themselves. I've been writing privately for a while, short stories, and working on a children's book. Now I want to try and blog like my mother. I need to practice, practice, practice, because that's what gets you where you want to be. And I want to be like my mother. I want to be a Writer, too.

Wedding Website
I'm engaged! Robert had everything carefully planned out, and even engraved the date of his proposal (7-20-13) on the inside of the ring (along with R*heart*L)! I've started a wedding website, for pictures, information for the reception, and for something to do while I wait for us to be married. It's only 2-3 months away, which is very quick for most of the world (we got engaged after knowing each other for 2 months), but seems like a very long time for me. There's that quote that goes something like, "When you've found the person you want to spend the rest of your life with, you want the rest of your life to start right now!" That's certainly how I feel....
Here's the first draft of the "About Us" page that I've done:

About Lauren
Lauren was born in Iowa, and raised in various places throughout the United States throughout her lifetime, including spending 2 years in Argentina! She grew up loving animals, and has had dozens of pets. She loves doing art, including embroidery, crocheting and knitting, book binding, basket weaving, and photography. Now she trains dogs, and has a wonderful little Service Dog named Charlie. Charlie is a shih tzu/yorkie/shepherd mix, and weighs in at 12 pounds. He accompanies her everywhere, and is an accomplished trick dog and snuggler!About Robert
Robert was born and raised in Peru! He moved to Florida 7 years ago, went on a mission to California, and now works in Miami as a manager at Advance Auto Parts. Despite being a life-long dog lover, he currently lives alone, but not for long! He is an accomplished swimmer, loves going to the beach, and loves the water so much that he proposed in it! (More on that later...)How we met
We met at a YSA dance in Fort Lauderdale. Their eyes met across the room, he walked over and invited her to dance! Since he's the hottest thing since jalapenos, of course she said yes. They danced and talked for the rest of the evening! My Little Man
My little man is all grown up. He's a year and 4 months old now. He's a little lot spoiled, but he's still my best little guy. It's really amazing how much I've learned in the past year, and how close he and I have become. He's an official Service Dog now, and goes with me to the grocery store, church, work, everywhere. He's very good at chilling out in the shopping cart, even when people are oohing and ahhing at him.
Charlie and I do agility together, he does almost 50 tricks so far, and we both love it all. For the first time ever, though, Charlie will have to share me with someone else. I'm engaged! Robert lives down in Miami, so we see each other 2 to 4 times a month. At first Charlie treated him like another dog and tried to warn him away from me, but after he learned that Robert is a sucker for his puppy dog eyes and pitiful whine, he saw a chance for a new slave instead of a rival. Even for all that, Charlie still tries to direct our relationship in the "correct" direction - he deposits himself between Robert and I when we're sitting on the couch, and even tries to stick his head in between our fingers if we're holding hands. Everything should be about Charlie, because the world revolves around him, right, guys? :)
